Choosing your “perfect day”

Brenda Sampson on October 10th, 2010

Today is 10-10-10 and some say it is the perfect day of the year.  It has not been this date for 1oo years but then again, the same can be said for the other days this year.  The numbers today just flow nicely.  If today is not the only day of the year that can be “perfect” , how do you choose your perfect day?  It begins with a few steps to prepare for your goal of a perfect day and ends with clarification of how you define “perfect”.

Step 1: to know where you want to go or what you want, accept where you are and what you have.  Write down ten things your are grateful for. (It does not have to be complicated… to be loved, the weather anything you are grateful for).

Step 2: Choose to forgive.  Abraham Lincoln is quoted as saying “forgiveness is a secret that is hidden in plain sight.  It cost nothing and is worth millions. It is available to everyone and used by few”.  Being part of the few is a good thing and the first person you need to forgive is yourself.  By choosing to take responsibility for your past you free yourself for a brighter future.

Step 3 Choose who you would take with you. Not just those who are at your level of success but those above it.  Take action! Contact one or more persons who have made a difference in your personal or business life. For your path to be well lighted, choose others who choose to live in light more than in darkness because our lives reflect who we choose to be part of it.

You experience clarity when you observe contrast. Every thought, word or action is either positive or negative. As you observe what you do not want you get a clearer vision of what you do want.

Remember the words of Gandhi: “strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes  from an indomitable will”.  In many arenas of  life you may be asked to gauge things based on a one to ten scale, one being the worst and ten being the best possible or perfect. Today is 10-10-10 and you can’t be more perfect that that with those guidelines but remember the words of another person of excellence.  Mother Teresa said “We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop”.  You are important and everyday is exactly what it is supposed to be,

Have a perfect day… every day.

I Got to be Me!

I look in the mirror and who do I see? I don’t see you… so I got to be me.  As simple as that may sound, sometimes I think we forget that. We forget who we are and we try to change things about us to meet the image that others want to see or we [...]

How do I get started?

Before you set out on a trip you do certain things… you decide where you are going, how you will get there and what you will do when you get there. Getting started on a new path is just like that. If you don’t know where you are going, how will you know when you arrive or [...]

When a situation is so serious or a problem so huge sometimes you might think “what can I do”? When a young boy in America learned about the Aids epidemic on the African continent, he started thinking “what can I do? I can play basketball but how that help children with Aids?” In his book [...]

Where am I and how do I get where I want to go?

Brenda Sampson on May 29th, 2010

When you go to the mall and are looking for a store, you can find a directory that has a large “X” on it and the words ”you are here”. You don’t have to be a certain age or height to use this directory. It is not dependant on your education or where you came from… this is where [...]
